Last weekend I travelled across the border with my boyfriend to do some much anticipated shopping as previously mentioned in my "Work wear inspiration for the office" post.
I love road trips. Most don't understand why I decide to spend more time driving than actually shopping and argue that I can find the same items right here, at home.
Here are some of the reasons why I completely disagree and think they are missing the point of a road trip :
♥ Driving on open roads is relaxing. Realistically, how often do you have time to reflect and just let everything go? You are literally driving away from any problem at home or at work.
♥ Making pit stops and ordering coffee and eating Timbits (read "small doughnut holes" for those who don't know Tim Hortons). Is there anything more comforting?
♥ Talking to strangers at pit stops. You always meet the craziest and nicest people. (Maybe a few psychos but I rather not think about that. Always be careful).
♥ If you don't spend enough time outdoors, road trips are the next best thing. There are so many things to look at. Whether it's early in the morning and you're driving in and out of the fog along the hills or the sun is shinning and it's right in the middle of fall. Spotting weird looking birds and realizing you're not sure what a turkey actually looks like or if you just saw a falcon..
♥ Singing at the top of your lungs and blurting out the wrong lyrics without having anyone to judge you. I think my boyfriend and I have truly nailed this one (he sings all the right lyrics though). Seriously, try putting on some Incubus and sing until you lose your voice (or think you're getting a sore throat). Music is an integral part of "road tripping". Planning playlists is a serious task.
♥ Food. Whether you've made your own sandwiches and cut some vegetables or you're ordering greasy cheeseburgers and fries; every meal is special.
♥ A good road trip requires spending at least 3 hours in a car (according to me). Time to get to know the person you're driving with. After years of dating, you communicate through movements and stares. Next level bonding right there!
♥ Planning. Once you've experience the greatness of a road trip, planning the next one is half the fun!
The pictures posted above from {peace&love♥} remind me exactly what I feel when I go on a road trip.
Do you "Road trip"? (Yes, I feel like it should become a verb)

There's nothing better than a good road trip! I moved from the East Coast to the West Coast 2 years ago and we drove the entire way. I will never forget it!
